The Story of Our Shop

We are delighted to share this video telling the story of Huby and Sutton Community Shop.

The film was created by Maja Kotte who lives near Berlin in Germany and recently spent ten days staying with Terry as a volunteer, helping out in her large organic fruit and vegetable garden. This took place as part of the Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) programme, which connects people with organic farms and community projects around the world.

Terry has been involved with the shop since its very beginning and currently serves on the Management Committee, as well as supporting the shop in her role as Assistant Volunteer Coordinator.

Maja is a woman of many talents and is currently taking a break from her usual work to WWOOF around the UK. She also runs her own YouTube channel, where she documents and shares her experiences with like‑minded people. During her stay with Terry, Maja volunteered for several shifts in the shop and quickly became inspired by what she saw.

She was particularly struck by the strong sense of community and by the shop’s community‑owned, volunteer‑run model, which she felt deserved to be more widely known. This video is the result of that enthusiasm and collaboration.

We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoy being part of its story.
