Greetings from the team of volunteers who keep the shop open for all.
The shop is going from strength to strength, with lots of lovely new and local products being stocked. The work on the maisonette is complete and it is now being advertised by Stephenson’s in Easingwold. We are hoping to provide a home for anyone wanting to live locally, so please do encourage anyone you know who is looking for rented accommodation to check it out.
We are sad to be losing Marion as one of our wonderful Post Office team, she has been a great enthusiast for the shop and has worked as a Post Office assistant since 2017. She is looking forward to retirement. But that does mean we have an opportunity for someone else! The role is 4 hours a week (we are flexible as to which day this shift covers) as well as every third Saturday morning. The deadline for applications is 27th August. And a date for your diary…our shop AGM is on Sunday 20 October at 4pm in the Huby Memorial Village Hall. More details will be available nearer the date but its an important chance for you to keep informed and get involved.
Finally, did you know….?
- Our village store and Post Office would not be viable if it wasn’t for the volunteers who do all the shifts behind the counter as well as stock purchasing and management.
- Get involved! By becoming a volunteer, you not only help the community, but you also get to know people and become part of a team. Lots of people do it, why not give it a go?
- All profits from the shop benefit the local community, for example, it allows us to keep the Post Office open 6 days a week.
- We take orders for meat and fish every week, so why not order from us in the week and collect it a few days later? We take orders for pies and other baked goods from Thorntons, meat from Hartleys, fish from Hodgsons and bread from Clarks – and we can order from their full ranges, not just what we normally stock.
- The shop is open 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12.30pm on Saturdays and 9am to 11.30am on Sundays and Bank Holidays. The Post Office is open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12noon on Saturdays.
